Ate here while waiting for friends taking Amtrak from Chicago. Place is very cool (vibe and temp). Service was immediate and super-friendly even though it was a Friday evening and a little busy. I had the wings (Buffalo) and my wife had a wrap. Wings were outstanding. Large, juicy, well-sauced....perfect. 10/10 seriously. Wife's wrap was very good too. We also had the onion rings. I love onion rings; my wife will have 1 occasionally. She ate almost half the order. They were excellent. Train ended up being 45 minutes late, so we moved to the bar for a while, as well. Same great service; and darn cold drinks. We will come out this way more often (even if no one is arriving on the train). Support local businesses!!

Each time I am in Carlinville visiting family, I always find time to dine at The Wood Duck. The bar fare menu is really quite tasty, and the prices are extremely reasonable during this time of rising food and other costs. The steak sandwich is off the chart awesome! Wings, burgers, horseshoes, Philly steak sandwiches and daily specials ALL have been tried by me and my friends and we have never been disappointed. Drinks are reasonable, the crowd tends to be 'hometown friendly' and the owner has an awesome personality and appreciates her patrons. I'll be visiting again in another week.

Nice bar in the heart of Carlinville! Staff and owners were very nice. We came in on a busy Thursday night about 6:30 and only had seating at the bar which was just fine. Had a great peach cider and ordered the special- shrimp poboy they had promoted on Facebook and a ribeye sandwich. The food was pretty good but it took close to an hour to get it. (Hence the 4 stars not 5). We will definitely come again if in the area. The check wasn't cheap but we got a good value for our $40+

Our favorite little hole-in-the-wall, small town gem! Great food and drinks, great people, great vibe. Only downfall is the pricing is a little steep, but that's just the world these days.

Been coming to this bar for years for drinks. It's a small local place and the food is decent if you're in the mood for fried bar food. Not really enough space for bigger groups. Staff are usually friendly.

Ever since Kate took over this place has had the BEST food, BEST drinks, and best feel of any bar or restaurant in town. Come and enjoy a drink or bring the whole family for some amazing food. You will not be disappointed and the food you get for the price is unbelievable!

Drove an hour and a half to help out a friend and dined here. This place is worth the trip. Best fried pickles I have had in forever. Horseshoe was delicious and gigantic. Very well may just drive back here to sample some of their other delights.

The Wood Duck has the best horseshoes South of Springfield! The drink prices aren't to bad and the atmosphere is great. The only negative I can find is the owner (Kate) is a Blackhawks fan. Stop by today, treat yourself to a delicious lunch, and yell a "Let's Go Blues" before you go.
